I think it was a fantastic idea by the NHL to have new Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan release a video explaining the recent suspension of Jody Shelley for his late hit on Maple Leafs forward Darryl Boyce. It gives an insight and explanation into the suspension and the length, something that the NHL has been recently criticized about regarding consistency. If he continues to do this during the entire season as rumours suggests, it will provide an unprecedented level of access and understanding into the policing of hockey. Good on the NHL for this.
