Just a couple more hours until the Blue Jays take the field for the first time in the 2012 season. As Daniel Bryan would say, “YES!”

EditLOL at Brett “AA” Cecil.

My first career grand slam in Road to the Show game mode in MLB 12: The Show.

Edit: YouTube did not let me use music by The Black Keys. Despite what the credits say, it is not them performing the instrumental.

I hit my first major league home run against the Orioles today in MLB 12: The Show’s Road to the Show mode. Here’s the video proof.

Now this is a video game cover I can get behind. I was very excited to see Jose Bautista getting this kind of recognition, even if it’s just a Canadian exclusive. Oh well. Anything is better than buying a cover with a member of the Red Sox on it.

It appears the Toronto Blue Jays are getting a makeover for the 2012 season. The above teaser video hints at a new set of jerseys and caps, with BLUE being the prominent colour instead of the previous season’s black. You think it would just be common sense to make them the same colour as the bird, but who am I to judge? I don’t run a Major League Baseball franchise. Anyways, I’m looking forward to the full unveiling Friday. I’ll then have to decide who I want on the back of the new duds: Romero, Lawrie, or Arencibia?

“The Mount Rushmore of Blue Jays”

On my way home from work this evening, I was listening to Mike Wilner’s Jays Talk show following the Blue Jays’ 9-1 loss to the Rays. One of the callers brought up the fact that - unlike other stadiums - there are no statues honouring former Blue Jays in front of Rogers Centre.

Another idea she had was having a “Mount Rushmore” of sorts featuring the busts of former Jays players. Anyways, after the caller and Wilner agreed that there should be a statue of Alomar first if any were to be made, he gave a list of the 5 Blue Jays that should be on there (in no particular order):

To me, that’s a pretty solid Top 5. I personally wouldn’t make any changes, other than maybe replacing Fernandez with Cito or maybe Joe Carter just because of THE home-run.

What do you guys think? Would you replace anyone? Who is more deserving of that statue?

Back in the day, I used to have these tapes of the Blue Jays back-to-back World Series Championship victories. One of my favourite parts of those videos was the Coke commercials scattered through it which saluted the Jays and their play. This one was put out following their ‘93 win. Really do dig those uniforms since, you know, the Blue Jays are actually [rage]WEARING BLUE![/rage]

Anyways, watching this really takes me back to my younger days. Ah, the innocence of childhood.
